Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 12 (ANI): BRS MLC K Kavitha on Monday alleged that the Telangana government aims to “sell the land or trade it” after converting Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Cooperation Limited (TGIIC) from a private limited company to a public listed company.
Calling the decision of the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy-led government “unfortunate”, K Kavitha emphasised that “selling” the land was not the company’s primary motive. “It was primarily set up to develop this land and give it to industrialists who are interested in investing in the state,” she added.
Speaking with ANI, she said, “Telangana government has converted the TGIIC (Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Cooperation Limited) from a private limited company to a public listed company. We believe that the state govt is going to trade the 1,75,000 acres of land…it is an unfortunate move because trading or selling of the land is not the intention of this industrial cooperation. It was primarily set up to develop this land and give it to industrialists who are interested in investing in the state.”
Noting the repercussions this move can have, K Kavitha demanded that the CM “roll back” the decision.
“Now, contrary to that, this government is making moves to either sell the land or trade it, to generate more money and debt. This debt will hurt Telangana in the long term. I am demanding from the CM to roll back this decision or tell the people of Telangana why you are going to utilise it and how you are going to utilise it,” K Kavitha said.
Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (TGIIC) is the Nodal Agency of the Telangana State Government and is dedicated to developing potential sectors of industries. It plays a crucial role by providing the necessary impetus for accelerated growth in the state of Telangana. The Industrial Areas range from 15 acres to 2500 acres, and the corporation has a presence in every district.
TGIIC operates with nine Zonal Offices in various districts, including Cyberabad, Medchal-Siddipet, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Patancheru, Shamshabad, Yadadri, Khammam, and Warangal, in addition to its headquarters in Hyderabad. So far, TGIIC has developed infrastructure in 156 Industrial Parks, covering an area of 28,458 acres. Currently, 5,730 acres are available for land allotment, according to the TGIIC official website.
